Hull City sign Czech Republic international after successful trial

Hull City have signed Ondrej Mazuch from Sparta Prague for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 28-year-old defender has played all across Europe for the likes of Fiorentina, Anderlecht and Dnipro before landing at Sparta Prague at the very end of 2015. But recently, he headed to Hull to go on trial with the club and impress the coaching staff there so he could get a contract. And after impressing in friendlies against Benfica and FC Nantes, he has earned the deal he wanted.

The Tigers have handed Mazuch a two-year contract as he looks to make himself an integral part of the first team. The Humberside club are looking to get promoted back to the Premier League at the first time of asking and while Mazuch is a complete unknown on these shores, he hopes that his pedigree that’s come for playing for clubs across the continent alongside being an international for the Czech Republic will help him to become a key player for Hull this season.

After completing his move to Hull, Mazuch said: “Of course I am very happy to sign the contract with Hull because it has always been my dream to play in England.”

“I’m delighted the Club have given me this fantastic opportunity and I would like to thank everyone who has helped me to make this transfer. Now the deal has been finalised, I can’t wait for the new season to start.”

Mazuch could make his first appearance as a contracted player for Hull when they face Ajax in a pre-season friendly on Friday.
