Sheffield United ready to let Done deal return to sender

Sheffield United signed Rochdale’s Matt Done in February 2015, beating off a number of sides to his capture. Now The Sun’s Alan Nixon, on his Twitter feed (below), says that a return to the Lancashire side may be on the cards.

Done scored eight goals and provided three assists in his first half-season in South Yorkshire, a stint where the Blades ended up falling in the League One Play-Offs.

Since then, Done has had two full seasons at Bramall Lane, featuring 62 times for United and scoring eight times, with a further five goals for teammates by way of assists.

Oswestry-born Done started out on his journey through football with Wrexham, transferring to Hereford at the start of July 2008 for a £30,000 fee. He stayed there two seasons, making 60 appearances, before a transfer free transfer to Rochdale at the end of the July 2010.

He was at Rochdale for less that a year, with South Yorkshire side Barnsley taking him on. Done played 47 games (four goals/six assists) for the Tykes between July 2011 and July 2013, punctuated by a loan move to Scottish side Hibernian, before a transfer back to former side Rochdale.

It was whilst at Rochdale, where he made 109 appearances, that Done came to prominence and made a name for himself. He scored 19 goals and laid on another 15 via assists, form which brought about his eventual move to Sheffield United.

Nixon says that the Blades are ready to cut Done loose, allowing him to return to Rochdale, with the South Yorkshire side looking at other options as they prepare for a season back in the Sky Bet Championship.
