Everton and Bundesliga side set eyes on Sheffield United starlet

Everton are interested in Sheffield United’s young midfielder David Brooks, according to the Daily Star.

Born in Warrington. the 20-year-old has spent the past three years at Sheffield United after moving from Manchester City’s academy in 2014 following ten years at the Manchester club.

In the Blades’ promotion season last term, Brooks made four first-team appearances, with three coming in the Checkatrade Trophy before Chris Wilder’s side were knocked out after finishing third in their group.

The young midfielder has 18 months remaining on his current deal at Sheffield United and was set to leave on loan to Chesterfield before the Toulon tournament. However Chris Wilder’s side scrapped plans of a temporary move away for the midfielder believing he can now play in the first-team.

Brooks impressive performances for Non League side Halifax Town led to the midfielder signing a deal with the then League One side however, since moving to the Yorkshire giants, Brooks has impressed on the international stage by winning the Best Player award for his performances with the England under-20s at the 2017 Toulon Tournament leading to interest from numerous parties.

Premier League side Everton have a strong reputation for developing young players into stars; with the likes of Ross Barkley, Tom Davis and Ademola Lookman all impressing thoroughly during their time at Goodison Park – and now the Toffees are looking at Brooks as another way to prepare for the future.

But, Everton are not the only team interested in Brooks following his impressive performances in France, with German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig also credited with interest. Scouts from the German side were impressed with Brooks’ performances in France and are now monitoring his activity alongside the Merseyside club.
