Norwich City striker on trial with Premier League giants

Norwich City’s Benny Ashley-Seal is on trial with current Premier League champions Chelsea, according to the Eastern Daily Press.

He played an hour for the Blues’ development side on Wednesday in their defeat to non-league outfit Aldershot Town.

The 18-year-old, who was also linked with Leicester City earlier this summer, has been offered a professional contract at Carrow Road along with eight other academy scholars, but it is believed that he is set to snub the offer and is angling for a move elsewhere.

However, should the player complete a move away, Norwich would be entitled to compensation, as well as a percentage of any future transfer fee.

Ashley-Seal has been with the Norfolk club since he joined as an under-14 player, and has been a key member of City’s development side in the past couple of seasons.

He was instrumental in their progression in both the Premier League International Cup and Premier League Cup matches last campaign, where the Canaries reached the semi-finals in both competitions.

However, he has not yet made a professional first-team appearance.

Norwich have already seen another prized asset leave the club this summer; academy product Jacob Murphy left Carrow Road for the lure of Premier League football earlier this week, joining newly-promoted Newcastle United for a reported £12m fee.

New boss Daniel Farke has been busy bringing new faces to the club in preparation for the new season, including former Barnsley wide man Marley Watkins and Middlesbrough full-back James Husband.

The Canaries kick off their season with a tough trip to Fulham on August 5th.
