Wolves priced as second favourites to sign former Manchester City striker – Middlesbrough also priced

Wolves have been priced as the second favourites to sign Manchester City’s Alvaro Negredo by bookies Sky Bet.

Negredo is currently contracted to Spanish side Valencia, though he is best known in this country for his spell at Manchester City. He signed for the former Premier League side. The 31-year-old striker signed for them back in 2013 for a fee believed to be around £16.4m but struggled to get a place in the first team due to all the other world-class forwards at the club, meaning he only ever made 32 league appearances.

He then signed for Valencia after a loan spell with them but he finds himself out of the first team picture there and once again got loaned out, this time back to the Premier League to play for Middlesbrough. He did fairly well while at Riverside, scoring nine goals in 36 appearances, though the team had a goalscoring issue which meant they were eventually relegated and seemed to diminish any chance of signing him permanently.

But even though Negredo may seem like too big a player to move to the Championship, Wolves have been priced as the second favourites to sign him this summer with Sky Bet giving decent 7/1 odds. They have already caused a shock this summer by snapping up FC Porto’s Ruben Neves and Negredo would be another huge statement from the Black Country club.

Turkish side Besiktas are the favourites to sign Negredo with 11/4 odds, while West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City have also been priced at 14/1. And despite their relegation, Middlesbrough have been given 25/1 odds to sign the Spanish striker.
