Norwich City look to continue German revolution with signing of Nurnburg midfielder

Norwich City are looking to continue the German revolution of their side by signing Nurnburg’s Hanne Behrens according to a report from German publication Bild.

Ever since Daniel Farke became the head coach of Norwich, he has been looking to bring in players of the same nationality. They have already signed three German players with the Canaries signing Marcel Franke from Greuther Fürth, Mario Vrancic from SV Darmstadt 98 and Christoph Zimmerman from Borussia Dortmund. But with this tactic signing players from Germany working out very well for Huddersfield Town last season as they sealed a shock promotion via the play-offs, Farke sees no reason why they shouldn’t continue signing players from his home country.

This is why the latest player that Norwich have been linked with is Behrens who is currently playing for Nurnburg. He has been an impressive player for them in recent years but his future is in doubt with his current deal set to expire this summer, meaning the Norfolk based club might be able to get the player described as a midfield engine for far cheaper than his actual value.

For Behrens, the chance to play in England may be too much to resist. He admits in the article that he knows about the interest from Norwich and considering that Nurnburg are currently stuck in the 2. Bundlesliga, a chance to player in a higher quality division with the chance of getting into the Premier League will be a huge lure. And with Carrow Road seemingly getting a Bavarian theme in recent weeks, it may feel like a home from home for him should he move.
