Blackburn Rovers and Millwall two of clubs interested in Arsenal striker

Blackburn Rovers and Millwall are two of the clubs interested in taking Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi on loan this season, according to The Mirror.

Mavididi, 19, has reportedly been attracting a lot of interest from Football League clubs this summer and could be loaned out.  Championship sides Bolton Wanderers and Millwall, as well as League One clubs Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic, are all showing interest in taking the young striker on a season-long loan deal.

A product of the Arsenal youth academy, Mavididi signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2015.  The following season, he scored 17 goals in 30 appearances for Arsenal’s Under-21 side, including two goals in their play-off final game against Aston Villa.  The striker’s goals helped Arsenal achieve promotion to Division One.

Last season, Mavididi scored eight goals in 17 games for the Under-21s, also getting two assists.  In January 2017, he was loaned out to League One side Charlton Athletic until the end of the season.  However, after three starts and two substitute appearances, the striker returned to Arsenal because of injury.

Arsenal’s official website describes Mavididi as “Hardworking and strong in possession […] In his element as a lone striker due to his strong build and eye for goal, Stephy will be hoping to add more goals to his growing tally this season.”

Despite not scoring for Charlton in League One last season, Mavididi could be a solid signing for any of the four clubs interested in loaning him this summer.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will look at how much game time the striker would be getting at each club before making his decision.
