Bradford City centre-back signing: Five potential names

Following the news that Rory McArdle would be moving to Scunthorpe United, it became a huge task to find out who could replace the long-serving centre-half at Bradford City.

It is no secret that Bradford City are searching for a right-sided centre-back who is experienced, tall and composed for this upcoming season in League One.

Many names have been suggested as potential replacements for McArdle during this transfer window and Bradford City’s head scout Greg Abbott has been looking for an experienced centre-half since the Northern Irish international left Valley Parade. The rumours that Jordan Turnbull or Sonny Bradley could be making a move to Valley Parade seem to have been quashed by the Telegraph and Argus given the fact that they are left-sided defenders and Bradford City want to sign a right-sided centre-half.

Experienced defender Gordon Greer is currently on trial with Bradford City but it remains to be seen as to whether he will sign a contract with Bradford City.

Abbott said to the Telegraph and Argus: “We looked at six on the day before he went (Gordon Greer). I would have to say there’s only one on that list I wouldn’t be interested in.”

“They are all good, experienced centre halves and none you would consider to be a gamble.”

Jake Verity looks at some of the players who could be replacing Rory McArdle at centre-back by the start of this season.
