Are Sheffield Wednesday going to sign ex-Posh striker?

It’s being reported that The Owls may be about to sign 18-year-old Deon Moore. He was released by Peterborough just before the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

The Croydon-born striker bagged a brace for Sheffield Wednesday’s Under 23 side on Monday night. George Hirst was also on the scoresheet as they beat Worksop Town 3-2.

Moore played six times for Posh last season but he failed to score a single goal for the League One side. He was described as a “gifted striker” by Peterborough manager Chris McCann. Moore and Leo Da Silva Lopes were both expected to impress in League One. While Leo Da Silva Lopes impressed, Moore couldn’t get regular game time and he struggled to make his mark.

However, for some reason his time at London Road was cut short as in April he was shown the door by the club. When the Peterborough chairman was asked about why he left Darragh MacAnthony said: ” He’s left the club and I don’t want to mention his name.” This obviously shows that the two had a falling out and they came to the conclusion that Moore should leave.

It is not yet known whether the former Carshalton Athletic striker will sign for The Owls. It may just be a case of the Yorkshire side taking a look at the player. Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to gain promotion from the Championship this season. Wednesday have reached the play-off final and semi-finals in the last couple of years. But is this the year they finally gain the promotion which has alluded them?
