Norwich City reject £8m offer from Newcastle United for star winger

Norwich City have rejected an £8m offer from Newcastle United for Jacob Murphy according to a report from Sky Sports.

While the Canaries would have a disappointing season as they failed to even challenge for promotion following their relegation from the Premier League the year before, some of their players were still able to perform at a high level. One of those players was Jacob Murphy who scored 10 goals for Norwich last season and was also part of the England U21s squad that reached the semi-finals in the European Championships this summer.

With Norwich stuck in the Sky Bet Championship, teams have started to become interested in Murphy as they believed they can lure him to the Premier League. One of those teams was Newcastle United who are now back in the top tier after becoming the champions of the Championship, who made a bid worth £8m to try and sign Murphy. But even though Norwich may be willing to sell the 22-year-old winger, they are not quite ready to accept an offer just yet.

They have rejected the offer from Newcastle with Norwich looking for far more money if they are going to sell one of their best players. And this isn’t expected to be the end of the matter as Newcastle will most likely go back with an improved offer later on as they look to sign more players following what has been described by their head coach Rafa Benitez as a frustrating summer. But their Premier League rivals may sense an opportunity, with Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion also interested in signing Murphy.
