Leeds United to lose out in fight to sign Chelsea midfielder

Leeds United are set to lose out in the fight to sign Chelsea’s Mario Pasalic according to a report from Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Leeds were one of the many teams across Europe that were in a battle to sign Pasalic from Chelsea. The 22-year-old midfielder has been with the West London club for a few years but despite the fact he has performed well in loan spells at clubs such as Monaco and AC Milan, he has come no closer to breaking into the Chelsea first team. And to make sure he does in fact get the first team football he needs to make sure he keeps his place in the Croatia squad ready for the World Cup next summer, he is set to leave Stamford Bridge.

But while Leeds were hoping to be the team that were able to sign Pasalic, especially after they missed out on bringing Jonny Howson back to the club when he elected to join their Sky Bet Championship rivals Middlesbrough instead, it looks like they are going to lose that battle. He instead is going to head to La Liga, a division he played in when on loan at Elche, to sign for Real Betis.

According to this report, Pasalic is a fan of the club and believes it is a very good club with a lot of tradition. Moving to Betis means that he will not only turn down a move to Leeds but also to European giants Lazio and Galatasaray.
