Leeds United centre-back signing: Five potential names

4. Martin Caceres

The Uruguayan has featured on 70 occasions for his country and has played for the likes of Barcelona, Juventus, Sevilla and Villareal.

The 30-year-old most recently played for Southampton but found his time at St Mary’s very frustrating, only appearing once during a short-term contract that he signed in February until the end of last season.

The defender has clearly got a wealth of experience from featuring in three of Europe’s top divisions and gaining 70 caps for his country.

Leeds United need somebody who is experienced to lead their back-line and with Pontus Jansson linking up well with Kyle Bartley last season, Caceres could offer some more top-flight experience in the Whites side for this upcoming season.

A potential problem could be the wages that Caceres may choose to demand, especially when you consider the calibre of clubs that he has featured for over his career. If he wants to play regular football and reignite his career that has seemingly become quite stagnant at the age of only 30, Leeds could be a great move for both the player and club.
