Jordan Amavi to remain at Aston Villa, for now

Diario de Sevilla reports that Aston Villa left back Jordan Amavi has failed a medical ahead of a proposed move to Sevilla. Therefore, the La Liga club have decided against signing the player, who’ll be staying at Villa Park for the foreseeable future.

The defender was set to make the move after an £8.5million fee was agreed between the two clubs. Amavi is available for transfer with the Sky Bet Championship club, but now faces the prospect of returning to pre-season training with the club that he too seems to want to leave as well.

Sevilla have conducted ‘extensive medical testing’ on the 23-year-old, who has been at Villa since making the move from Ligue 1 side Nice in 2015. However, on completing on such testing, the club deem it to be an ‘unsatisfactory’ move for the club, if they were to go ahead.

Amavi has endured his injury issues since making the move to England a few years ago. A bad knee problem ruled him out for several months now long after joining the club. He has shown promise in stages, but when called upon last season, he failed to impress Bruce, thus meaning he is surplus to requirements.

News of this will surely filter around the footballing world, who could also be put off making a move for Amavi as well. Dr Tony Xia revealed on Twitter earlier this year that he rejected a mega money bid from a Chinese Super League club for the player. This was almost three times the fee they were due to receive from Sevilla.
