Former Blades striker could earn Robins deal

Former Sheffield United striker Jordan Slew could earn a contract with Sky Bet League Two outfit Swindon Town after impressing for the club on trial according to the Swindon Advertiser.

The 24-year-old Gleadless born hotshot is currently without a club after being released by Sky Bet League Two promotion winners Plymouth Argyle at the end of last season.

It has been reported that Swindon Town have taken the player on trial and Slew has done his chances of earning a deal at The County Ground no harm with an impressive performance in a pre-season friendly against non-league outfit Swindon Supermarine.

Slew hit the post and scored for The Robins in a 7-1 thrashing of their local rivals while he also weighed in with two assists to give manager David Flitcroft something to think about in the coming days. The Robins are back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Melksham Town and Slew could again make an appearance in that match.

The striker was an FA Youth Cup runner-up with Sheffield United before he went on to make 14 appearances for the club at first team level, scoring three goals. Since leaving Bramall Lane, Slew has failed to settle and has represented no less than nine other clubs in just six years and the player will be hoping to finally find a more long term home at The County Ground.
