Wolves complete one of the most stunning transfers in recent years

Wolves have signed Ruben Neves from FC Porto for a club record fee as confirmed by the club website.

Neves had been seen as one Porto’s best players and had been attracting attention from some of the biggest clubs in England with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United all looking into signing him. But then Wolves entered the race and while many doubted that they could pull it off, with some comparing it to the reports linking them to similarly big name Anderson Talisca last season,

But amazingly, they have managed to complete the signing of Neves for what is a club record fee, with the Daily Mail saying Wolves have paid £15.8m, and the 20-year-old midfielder will be there for the long haul after signing a five-year deal with the Black Country club. And so instead of playing in the Champions League for FC Porto, he will be helping Wolves in their attempt to get promoted from the Sky Bet Championship.

After completing his move, Neves said: “I’m very excited to play at this club,”

“It is a very big club and I hope to help the team to win their goals.

“I have always wanted to play in England and we have a good team.

“I think we can do good things this season.

“It is also a good opportunity for me to work again with a trainer (Nuno Espírito Santo) I worked with last year.

“I am very excited to start and to play in front of the fans – I love that.”
