As a new season comes around, with the exception of transfer rumours, and signings being made by your club, there is little to be excited about as a fan during the off-season.
Fans are left twiddling their thumbs, and hoping and praying their team does all they can to make the best additions possible to their squad before the start of the season.
One thing, however, that fans can look forward to is the release of the new shirt for the season, and often this sparks huge excitement and debate between fans.
League One outfit Portsmouth released their new home shirt today, and this is how their fans reacted.
Some were quick to notice the red and white bands around the neck and sleeves, which are the colours of a certain rival.

Another thing which caused debate between fans was the huge watermark of the Portsmouth crest on the bottom right corner of the shirt. The majority on twitter didn’t like it at all, although that was voted for on a poll by Portsmouth fans, so fans could be very split over that.
Not a fan of the huge shiny crest on the bottom right BUT – The fans voted for it.. So really we cannot complain. It does look smart.

Too busy with the Watermark. The wm detracts – would be far better without!

The general consensus however was that the majority of fans did like the shirt, and also mentioned that they liked the retro aspects of it.

Although the Fratton Park faithful seem a little divided over the new shirt, one things for sure, they wont be divided on supporting the club through their upcoming campaign in League 1.
With Portsmouth fans having to deal with more hard times than most fans in recent years, they will be hoping that their recent promotion to League 1 is a sign of whats to come, and many are backing Pompey for a successful season.
