Crawley sign Dutch striker from MVV Maastricht

As reported by the Crawley Town official website, Thomas Verheydt has signed for The Red Devils. The 25-year-old has signed for an undisclosed fee and he has signed a three-year deal with the club.

He notched seven goals in fifteen games for Jodan Boys before moving to IJsselmeervogels. Verheydt scored 27 goals in two seasons with the Topklasse side. After two impressive years with IJsselmeervogels, he moved on to MVV Maastricht. Verheydt scored fifteen goals in two seasons for MVV Maastricht.

After the signing was announced by the club via Twitter, the Directer of Football Selim Gaygusuz had some words to say about the move on the club website. He said, “Thomas is a great signing for us and we’re hoping he can play a big part in the side next season.” He added, “We recognised that after losing James Collins we had to recruit in this area of the pitch, and believe Thomas is someone who can step up to the mark.”

Verheydt also had some words on his move to Crawley. The 25-year-old said, “I always wanted to play in England and when I got the call from Crawley Town it was an easy decision to come here.” He also said, “It’s always going to be difficult moving county but that’s just part of football.”

Verheydt is Harry Kewell’s seventh signing of the summer. Kewell has signed Dannie Bulman, Panutche Camara, Mark Randall, Moussa Sanoh, Cedric Evina and Dennon Lewis. The club is looking to win promotion to League One after a three-year absence.
