Ince, Premier League medical for Derby forward ahead of club record signing

Premier League medical for Derby forward ahead of club record signing

The Mirror understands that Derby County forward Tom Ince has had a medical with Huddersfield Town. The newly promoted Premier League club are poised to break their transfer record to bring the player to the club.

It is believed that £8.5million as an initial payment with be supplied to the Pride Park club, but an additional £2.5million could be received in the form of various add-ons. This comes after Derby rejected an initial £7.2million from the Terriers, prompting David Wagner’s side to break their transfer record once again.

Wagner himself, who recently signed a contract extension with the play-off final winners, revealed a few days ago that he was hoping to lure Ince to the club. With one of his top summer targets likely to sign on, it resembles another significant moment in the recent history of Huddersfield Town.

Over the last three seasons, Ince has received double figure goals in each of those campaigns. This obviously highlights his awareness of where the goal is, plus he is a very creative type who can carve out openings for fellow forwards as well.

As for Derby, it will be another big department from the club this summer. Will Hughes has already departed to the Premier League when moving to Watford, now managed by Marco Silva, for £8million. Rowett will therefore be hopeful that this money, along with that from the Ince deal, can be used on further adding to his squad. The clear goal for next season is to try and compete for a spot in the Premier League themselves.
