4 Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, chase 26-year-old Hull midfielder

The Daily Mail understands that four Premier League clubs are keen on signing Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas. Newcastle United, Leicester City, Burnley and West Bromwich Albion are all monitoring the player with particular interest this summer.

The 26-year-old is rated around £10million by the Tigers, but they may be tempted to accept £8million too. He has been at the KCOM Stadium since making the move from Chesterfield in 2015. Hull are believed to have paid just over £1million to sign him. Since then, he has become a key player, making over 70 league appearances for the club.

Although no official bids have been sanctioned by any of the clubs mentioned, they are certainly paying very close attention to the Lincoln-born playmaker. He is the holder of the Hull City Club Player of the Year Award following his fine displays last season. Newcastle have been admiring the player for quite some time, even during his time in the top flight last season. Leicester, Burnley and West Brom have only recently expressed a desire to possibly sign him up.

It isn’t only club bosses who have paid attention as supposedly Gareth Southgate sent scouts of his to run the rule over the player, in addition to Harry Maguire, last season. Clucas is no stranger to Leicester in particular having been on the books of the club as a younger. He was released by them at the age of 16 for supposedly being too short. Nevertheless, he has earned a good career in the game, after breaking through the Glenn Hoddle Academy, before being a success at Hereford, Mansfield and then Chesterfield. He also played for his hometown club Lincoln prior to this too.
