Burnley have been linked with many strikers this summer, including the likes of Stoke City’s Jon Walters, Southampton’s Shane Long and promoted Huddersfield’s Nahki Wells. But it appears they’ve chosen to go for Nottingham Forest’s Britt Assombalonga. Although they’ve has their bid rejected, the bid was just to test the water to see where Forest stand. Expect another revised bid to be made in the coming days.
Middlesbrough are also highly interested in the relatively young 24-year-old. But have yet to place any sort of inquiry or bid.
Middlesbrough currently have the odds of 2/1 to sign the Forest striker. Although Burnley’s odds have been slashed all the way down to the price of 5/6. Assombalonga is currently 3/1 to stay with his current club, Nottingham Forest.
Assombalonga would probably already be a Premier League striker had it not been for an incredibly serious knee injury he sustained when taking a shot against Wigan two and a half years ago. He was out for over 14 months. But now he’s fully recovered, Burnley fans should be really excited about this man. He really could be something really special for Burnley if they Clarets improve their bid and he does make the short move up north to the Lancashire club.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the news they’d had the bid rejected.
Same every transfer window, hate to sound like the victim but why does every club hold us ransom over crazy prices …
