Sunderland, Wolves and Norwich in race to sign Stoke City target

Sunderland, Wolves and Norwich City are in the race to sign Club Brugge’s Pierre Fonkeu according to a report from Belgian publication Voetbal Nieuws.

The 19-year-old striker is a complete unknown on these shores and is still yet to make a name for himself in his native Belgium. He came through the Club Brugge youth system and has been desperate to break into their first team, though that hasn’t been possible yet and is believed to be one of the reasons why he might soon be heading across the Northern Sea. His first team opportunities at Brugge became more limited after they signed Jeremy Perbet.

And this is where three Sky Bet Championship teams are set to do battle for his signature. While it is currently unknown whether this would be for their first team or their U23 developmental sides, Sunderland, Wolves and Norwich are all interested in Fonkeu and are looking to sign him now that he is available. They all see a lot of talent in the striker and believe he could make an impact for them.

However all three clubs will find it tough to sign Fonkeu as Premier League side Stoke City are also in the race to sign him. They haven’t made a move to sign him yet but have been closely watching the situation in recent days. The three Championship clubs may not have the same reputation and pull that Stoke have, but believe they will still have a chance of signing him by showing Fonkeu that he has a better chance of first team football with them.
