How are Bradford City looking ahead of the new season? – Between the sticks

With the arrival of July, the new Football League season is creeping closer and closer.

At this point in the summer the squads of Football League clubs should really be starting to take shape. Gradually as the summer progresses it becomes clearer how strong teams are looking and fans can begin to predict whereabouts in the table sides will be competing in the upcoming season. Things are no different at Bradford City.

Following last season’s play-off final loss at the hands of Millwall the beginning of the summer was a rather edgy one among a significant amount of Bradford fans. As several players from last season’s old guard departed Valley Parade this feeling of apprehension threatened to grow more and more.

However a flurry of new signings in recent weeks has sparked a renewed faith among fans. A new sense of positivity has again grown as the West Yorkshire club looks to go one better than last season when the 2017/18 campaign comes around.

Along with several new faces the club has also made sure to keep hold of some of the old guard. The latest contract renewals came earlier today in the form of Tony McMahon and Rouven Sattelmaier, as announced by the club’s official Twitter account.

Following the new signings along with the renewal of both McMahon and Sattelmaier’s contracts, the Bantams squad is beginning to come together. Gaffer Stuart McCall now seems well on his way to assembling a squad which will be hopeful of challenging right up at the top of League One once again in 2017/18.

In this series of articles we will look at how Bradford’s squad is shaping up in each area of the pitch. This begins in this article with the goalkeeping options.
