Knibbs pens first Aston Villa deal

Young Aston Villa striker Harvey Knibbs has signed his first professional deal with the club according to the Birmingham Mail.

The 18-year-old has shone for Villa at Under-18 level in the Under-18 Premier League and manager Steve Bruce has now offered a first professional deal to the player which has swiftly been signed and sealed.

Knibbs’ most notable contribution for Villa last season came in the FA Youth Cup when he scored four goals, two in each half in a thumping 7-0 victory over unfashionable non league outfit Broxbourne Borough in the Fifth Round of the competition. Villa made it into the last eight of the competition where they were eventually beaten by runners-up Manchester City.

Villa have an excellent recent record of producing and developing young talent. The likes of Nathan Baker, Andre Green, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Keinan Davis and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy have all made the successful jump into the first team squad in recent times and Knibbs is now expected to follow those young stars.

With Villa looking to return to the Premier League sooner rather than later, the quality of the squad at Villa Park is only likely to improve and youngster Knibbs has a real opportunity to learn from a number of high class professionals in the coming months.
