Aston Villa considering move for Crystal Palace midfielder

Aston Villa are considering making a move for Crystal Palace’s James McArthur according to a report from the Daily Mail.

With Steve Bruce taking charge of his first summer transfer window since being appointed as Aston Villa’s new head coach, he is looking to make a massive impact while rebuilding the squad to be ready for a promotion attempt. They expect to wrap up a massive deal for former England captain John Terry this weekend while also remaining interested in Hull City’s Ahmed Elmohamady and Manchester United’s Sam Johnstone, but they have also become interested in an established Premier League midfielder.

The player that Villa have been taking a closer look at is McArthur, someone who is currently contracted to Crystal Palace. He has been at Selhurst Park since 2014, though his career in South London was derailed when he tore his ankle ligaments all the way back in February 2016. He has struggled to get back into the first team ever since this serious injury and a move may be the best thing for him.

And Aston Villa want their stadium and training ground to be the fresh set of surroundings that McArthur needs to help reboot his career. They have been interested in a few midfielders during this transfer window but with McArthur having a tonne of experience in the Premier League, they believe he could make a massive impact should he decide to drop down a division. However at the moment, they are just looking at signing him rather than making a move.
