Watford could miss out on Hull City defender, Premier League rivals circling

Watford could be set to miss out on signing Hull City defender Andy Robertson as Liverpool are also interested in the defender, according to the Liverpool Echo.

It is believed that Robertson is keen on leaving Hull this summer and playing in the Premier League once again next season, but a move has failed to materialise thus far.  Burnley were interested, but have opted to go for former Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor instead.

This has left the door open for Watford, where Robertson could link up with former Hull manager Marco Silva once again.  However, despite the rumoured £8 million fee and the defender’s personal terms being within Watford’s budget, they have not pushed through a move.

Liverpool are also still interested in signing Robertson as they wait to see what will happen with the future of Albert Moreno.  The Premier League side are expected to sell Moreno this summer, but the defender is yet to accept that he is leaving the club.  Liverpool have been scouting Robertson for the past two seasons but decided against making an offer last summer.

Hull completed the signing of Robertson back in July 2014 for a fee of £2.85 million from Scottish side Dundee United.  He made 24 Premier League appearances during his debut season with the club and was key in their promotion campaign the following season, making 52 appearances in all competitions.

Robertson is also a regular for the Scottish national side, having made 15 appearances and scored one goal since his debut in 2014.

It is believed that Robertson is keen on a move back to the Premier League this summer.  The defender made 39 appearances for Hull in all competitions last season in what was ultimately an unsuccessful fight against relegation.
