Who is Bradford City’s new signing Dominic Poleon?

Bradford City this evening confirmed the signing of Dominic Poleon from AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee.

While Poleon may be a familiar name to some fans, some may be unfamiliar with the ventures and career of Poleon to date.

So, who is Dominic Poleon?

Dominic Poleon first came through the youth ranks at London club Chelsea. After failing to progress at the Premier League giants he made the switch to Southend United in 2008. It was here that he was spotted by Leeds United and signed a year later.

Poleon is no stranger to West Yorkshire and after impressing in Leeds’ youth team he made the move up to the senior squad. He spent two seasons at Leeds but only managed four goals in 37 appearances in his time at Elland Road and was sent out on loan twice during this spell.

It was at the start of the 2014/15 season when Poleon made his next move to Oldham Athletic after there then manager Lee Johnson came sniffing.

Johnson was clearly a fan of Poleon and on signing him said:

“We believe he needs to be coached and educated but we know he has the raw potential to be a big asset to this club and that’s why the chairman has gone the extra mile to sign him.”

Poleon enjoyed more success with Oldham in League One than he did at Leeds. In two seasons with the Latics he made just shy of 70 appearances in all competitions, hitting the net 11 times.
