Eibar gum Leeds United have final friendly opponents

Leeds United had a missing fixture for pre-season when the fixtures were announced with some Whites fans wondering if opponents TBC were a Dutch side. Now Spanish site Kirol Deportes has filled in that gap.

According to the Spanish site, Leeds’ final pre-season friendly will be against La Liga side Eibar in Austria. They say that Leeds United will face Eibar as one of four teams that they will play in a mini-tour of Austria – the other three being Watford, Kasimpasa and Schalke 04.

The Whites will face Eibar on July 23rd at a destination yet to be disclosed, but likely the same arena where they play their other Austrian tour game – the 4,500 capacity Kufstein Arena.

Leeds’ other game in Austria is against German 1.Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach, who they will play on July 20th, the Germans finishing in ninth place in the League last season.

Eibar finished their campaign last season in 10th place in La Primera, and will face Leeds a much-changed side with nine new signings adding to last year’s squad.

The Austrian mini-tour will come before Leeds return to England for their only home match at Elland Road, a tie against Oxford United on Saturday July 29th. This fixture is one arranged as part of the deal that took Oxford United striker Kemar Roofe to Elland Road last summer.

United face other friendly fixtures against the following sides:

  • Harrogate Town (Thorp Arch – closed doors), Weds, July 5
  • Guiseley (a), Sat, July 8
  • North Ferriby (a), Weds, July 12
  • Borussia Monchengladbach (in Austria), Thu, July 20
  • CD Eibar (in Austria), Sun, July 23
  • Oxford United (h), Sat, July 29
