Millwall, Millwall complete double swoop at last

Millwall complete double swoop at last

After much speculation over the last few weeks, Wolves pair George Saville and Jed Wallace have finally signed for Championship newbies Millwall. This was first reported this afternoon by the Shropshire Star.

Both players have joined the newly promoted Lions from Wolves for undisclosed fees. Saville and Wallace have both experienced loan stints at the Den in the past and will surely be welcomed back by the Millwall faithful.

Saville first spent part of the 2012/13 season at the Den on loan from Chelsea but only made three appearances during this brief spell. However he returned again during the 2015/16 season and enjoyed a more successful period at the club, making 15 appearances across all competitions. The youthful midfielder joined Wolves from Chelsea back in August 2014 but after a lack of football at Molineux, he now joins Millwall on a three-year deal and will no doubt be hoping to nail down a starting place.

As for Wallace, he spent much of last season on loan at the Den. Wallace enjoyed a decent loan spell at the club and was part of the Millwall side which gained promotion from League One via the play-off final last season. It’s believed a view to a permanent move was always on the cards for Wallace. Like Saville, Wallace had struggled for first-team football at Molineux after joining from Portsmouth back in 2015. He will now join up with Saville at Millwall and will surely share his hopes of playing week in week out for a Championship side next season.

The two former Wolves players are just the latest bit of business from Neil Harris in a summer which has already seen the likes of James Meredith and Tom Elliott make the switch from their respective clubs to South Bermondsey. ‘Wall fans seem pleased with their summer business so far and will no doubt be optimistic as gaffer Harris continues to bolster his ranks ahead of the new Championship season.
