3. Timothy Fosu-Mensah
The Dutch under-21 international has been used as a utility player during his time at Old Trafford. Fosu-Mensah has the ability to feature across the defence at right or centre-back. He can also be used as a central midfielder. Fosu-Mensah’s adaptability makes the 19-year-old highly desirable. Therefore, he could be set for a loan away from Old Trafford.
The former Ajax youth product has made 21 appearances for Manchester United since joining the club in 2014. The defender needs to enjoy a prolonged period of regular game time before he can assert himself as a first team footballer. The Championship took a number of Premier League defenders such as Chelsea’s Thomas Kalas and Kyle Bartley last season. As these defenders gained real experience in the division, it has improved their game massively.
If Fosu-Mensah was to go out on loan, he would benefit from being at a side such as Reading or Fulham as part of a promotion push. With both clubs narrowly missing out on promotion to the Premier League last year, they would be ideal for the youngster.
