Five midfielders who could replace Josh Cullen at Bradford City

After Bradford City fell short of reaching the Championship, it meant that a lot of fans were prepared to accept they would be losing one of their key players; Joshua Cullen. This article offers an insight into the midfielders who could replace him in the future at Valley Parade.

Cullen has been somewhat of a revelation for Bradford since moving to Valley Parade on loan from West Ham. Phil Parkinson initially signed Cullen during the 2015/16 season. This was with the aim of bolstering his squad for the run-in towards the play-offs. At only 19 years old, the Republic of Ireland under-21 international moved to West Yorkshire. Cullen quickly gained the respect of the fans immediately with his confident and consistent performances.

Despite only featuring once for West Ham, Cullen oozed Premier League quality on the pitch. The young midfielder’s class was evident during his 58 appearances across two loan spells. His ability to drive with the ball, play a killer pass and his trickery was exciting to see. Despite the fact that he offered Championship quality, Cullen moved back to Bradford last campaign. Although it wasn’t to be a fairytale ending, it’s highly likely he’ll play Championship football soon.

Bradford’s failure to achieve promotion has created an issue within their midfield. Although Timothee Dieng boasts class and quality on the bench, Cullen was exceptional. Now Bradford are faced with the difficult task of recruiting a midfielder of similar ability.

This article looks at some potential replacements for the midfielder in the upcoming season for the Bantams.
