Hull City want five Chelsea youngsters on loan

Hull City are interested in taking four or five of Chelsea’s young stars on loan, according to reports in the Sun, via the Hull Daily Mail.

New Tigers manager Leonid Slutsky’s close friendship with Blues owner Roman Abramovich gives Hull City an upper hand in trying to lure some of the Premier League champions’ many young stars to the club in the coming months.

Defender Tomas Kalas is widely reported to be Slutsky’s priority signing this summer after losing both Harry Maguire and Curtis Davies already this transfer window.

The 24-year old Czech international spent last season on loan at Fulham, where he was a mainstay in the squad making 36 appearances. It’s understood that the club are interested in taking Kalas back, but Hull City looks the likely destination at this time after his agent confirmed genuine interest.

Slutsky is keen to bolster his attacking options this summer, and the report suggests he could strengthen that department by bringing in the trio of Izzy Brown, Tammy Abraham and Lucas Piazon.

Brown spent the 2016/17 season on loan at Huddersfield Town and was a huge cog that helped them to promotion. The 20-year old featured 18 times for the Terriers and he could find himself back in the Championship once again where he would find more regular first team football more likely.

Piazon meanwhile, like Kalas, spent last season on loan at Fulham. The 23-year old Brazilian, who has also had spells at Reading, Vitesse, Frankfurt and Malaga, plays as an attacking midfielder. As a set piece specialist, Hull City need to look at improving their service to the strikers this season, and he could fill that gap.

Tammy Abraham had widely been linked with a move to Newcastle United but it’s understood that Hull City could be close to hijacking that deal. The England U21 star, who bagged 23 goals in 4 appearances for Bristol City last season is one of the most highly thought of youngsters in England at the moment, and with regular football just about guaranteed at the Tigers compared to Newcastle, he’d be a top signing for Leonid Slutsky’s side.

The final Chelsea name being linked in Kasey Palmer. Another England U21 midfielder, Palmer also spent last season on loan at Huddersfield Town making 25 appearances in all for the club. The 20-year old is another player expected to be a star of the future, and with players including Kamil Grosicki and Sam Clucas being linked with moves away, strengthening the midfield is important for Leonid Slutsky.
