CONFIRMED SIGNING: Bradford City announce their first signing of the summer

Bradford City have this afternoon made left-back Adam Chicksen their first signing of the Summer, as announced by the club.

Fans were first teased by the club’s official Twitter account this afternoon but then found out the identity of their mystery signing through a video posted at 5:15pm.

The bulk of the 25-year-old’s football to date has been played in and around this level. He began his professional career at MK Dons and after making 96 appearances, made the move to now Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. While at Brighton the left-back was shipped out on loan several times to numerous Football League clubs, including the likes of Gillingham and Fleetwood Town. Finally, Chicksen spent last season at Charlton Athletic, making 25 appearances and scoring two goals. However Chicksen has now become a Bradford player and seems excited by the prospect of playing at the club.

Following the recent departure of stalwart left-back James Meredith to Milwall, the signing of Chicksen comes very much as a necessity.

Following City’s play-off final loss to Millwall back in May, Meredith hasn’t been the only member of the old guard to leave Valley Parade with the likes of Stephen Darby, Billy Clarke and Mark Marshall also departing to play their football elsewhere.

As for the signing of Chicksen, it very much fits in with Bradford’s German owners desire to bring in young, hungry footballers. Fans of the West Yorkshire side will be hoping that Chicksen is the first of many when it comes to replacing the string of players who have already left this Summer and strengthening the squad ahead of the 2017/18 season.
