Premier League clubs queue up for Leeds United teenage sensation

The Mirror reports that several Premier League clubs are monitoring Leeds United midfielder Ronaldo Vieira. The 18-year-old impressed in the Leeds side last season, as well as the recent Toulon Tournament with the England Under-18 side.

Vieira played 38 times for Leeds last season as they just missed out on a place in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs under then manager Garry Monk. Thomas Christiansen is now at the helm at Elland Road, and will undoubtedly already be well aware of the talented youngsters he has on his hands in the form of Vieira.

Ironically, it is many who are comparing him to former Arsenal man Patrick Vieira which has led to so many Premier League clubs expressing an interest. He was introduced into the Leeds first team on the final day of the season before last by then boss Steve Evans. Since then, he became a regular performer under Monk, and everyone at Leeds are looking forward to his progress in the season to come.

The fact the player signed a new four-year contract as recently as last month means that the club will feel as though they are in a healthy position with regards to keeping him. They value him at approximately £10million, so they wouldn’t even entertain him moving on unless an offer of that nature could be produced. This season he’ll be targeting more involvement on the international scene and try to break into the England Under-21 side managed by Aidy Boothroyd. Or perhaps even the World Cup winning Under-20 side, managed by Paul Simpson. Regular football will help his cause with that, and he’ll certainly enjoy plenty of opportunities with Leeds next season. Should he move to the Premier League, it places his potential playing time in some doubt.
