Portuguese paper reports Forest winger close to transfer

Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest are close to sealing a deal which will allow Licá to return to Estoril, according to Portuguese reports.

Reports in the Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that the Primeira Liga side Estoril are heavily interested in their former loanee.

Starting his career with Social Lamas, the former O Crasto trainee featured on the rare occasion before switching to Academica. It was with this side that Licá joined C.D. Trofense on-loan in January 2010.

During his first full season, the wide-man found the net five times throughout his 27 matches as the Trofa club narrowly missed out on promotion.

From the loan-spell with Trofense, Licá joined Estoril, a club he would spend two years with. During those two years at Estoril, Licá made 59 appearances, scoring 18 times. His impressive performances at Estoril led to Licá signing a four-year contract with Portuguese giants Porto.

First team chances proved limited, to begin with for the tricky winger, but eventually he was given a loan move to Rayo Vallecano where he would fail to score during 21 appearances.

A move to Vitoria Guimaraes followed after the Vallecano temporary move, with whom Licá appeared 29 appearances and scored on five occasions.

The 28-year-old has failed to impress at the City Ground since signing as a free agent following his release from Porto in August 2016 but is contracted until the end of next season’s Championship campaign.

Estoril’s report states that the Estoril administration “will fight until the last” for a player that has proved to create an immense impression on the Portuguese side despite only managing one goal and one assist.
