Premier League side Huddersfield Town are the favourites to sign Leeds United star Chris Wood this summer, according to bookmakers Betfair, via The Sunday Express.
Chris Wood was in great form for Leeds United this season, scoring 30 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions. In the end, Leeds narrowly missed out on a play-off place and will compete in the Championship again next season. This fact, along with the departure of Garry Monk, could mean that Wood leaves the club this summer.
Newly-promoted Huddersfield Town have been tipped as the early favourites to sign Wood this summer, with Betfair offering odds of 11/2 for Wood to make the switch across Yorkshire. It is understood that Huddersfield would need to pay a fee of around £15 million in order to sign the striker.
Former Leeds manager Garry Monk, now at Middlesbrough, is 6/1 to link up with Wood once again. West Ham United, who have been linked with the striker in the past, are at 33/1.
Wood is currently on international duty with New Zealand and played in the country’s 2-0 loss to Russia on Saturday. However, Wood has still found the time to comment on newly-appointed Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen.
Christiansen had previously been managing Cypriot side APOEL but came to a mutual agreement to leave the club last month.
Wood said: “It was a great season last season, both personally and for the team. We put Leeds back on the map, which was a great thing for the club. We’ve done fantastically well as a team and as a unit.
“It’s a great appointment of the new manager, an exciting new manager who did well last season. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can offer in pre-season and we go from there.”
