Brentford’s Daniel Bentley has saved a man from downing in a pool while on holiday according to a tweet from his girlfriend Laura Smith.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper is currently on holiday with his girlfriend in Ko Samui, Thailand, where he would have been expecting to relax after a tough first season with Brentford. But he would prove that he doesn’t just save things on the pitch but also save lives.
According to tweets from his girlfriend, Bentley dived into the hotel pool when a man named Wang Jue seemed to be drowning. He was able to save his life and the duo then posed for a picture to be posted on Twitter, as you’d expect in this modern world.

The reaction has been quick with many praising Bentley after his heroics, though some also took the time to inject some humour into proceedings.
Our keeper is a keeper.

However after this incident, Bentley will most likely want to get back to enjoying his holiday and making sure he is in great condition for when he gets back to pre-season training. Brentford will be hoping to push up the Sky Bet Championship table after a decent showing last season, with a play-off challenge being one of the hopes going into next year.
Bentley knows that his first game back will be a friendly against Aldershot Town, though they have other fixtures against MK Dons, Southampton and Celta Vigo lined up. He’ll find out one of his first competitive games though today when the first round of the Carabao Cup is drawn at 1pm.
