Ten left-backs who could potentially replace James Meredith at Bradford City

7. Matthew Killgallon

Last season, Matthew Kilgallon found his opportunities in Bradford’s side limited with James Meredith performing so consistently at left-back and Bradford’s centre-back’s of Rory McArdle, Nathaniel Knight-Perceival and Romain Vincelot keeping clean sheets on a weekly basis alongside picking up an unfortunate injury.

This being said, when Kilgallon appeared for the Bantams last season, he played with confidence and demonstrated his Premier League and Championship pedigree with assured displays in the left-back position. Although recognised as a centre-back, the defender can play in the left-back position as a left-sided footballer which offers versatility for Stuart McCall when picking his team.

During Bradford’s 3-3 draw at home to Sheffield United last season, Kilgallon also managed to assist all three goals for the Bantams, showcasing his quality against the side who would eventually go on to win the League and who were his former employers. Rather than signing a new left-back as a priority, McCall may be happy to use Kilgallon as his starting number three this season.
