Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford has had a medical before his move to Everton

Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford has had a medical ahead of his move to Everton for a proposed £30 million, Sky Sources have reported.

This news comes as the other day, news broke that both Everton and Sunderland had agreed a deal of £30 million for the young shot-stopper.

Pickford is currently away on International Duty with England Under 21’s ahead of their European Championships in Poland. The young Three Lions squad will be getting underway on Friday at 5pm where they will face Sweden in Kielce and Pickford will be focused upon the upcoming game in the next couple of days.

Pickford himself, a product of Sunderland’s academy and part of their set up since 2002 has seen himself loaned out to several Football League clubs to gain experience at Burton, Carlisle, Bradford and most recently Preston North End from League Two to the Championship. Sam Allardyce became the first manager to offer Pickford a chance to make his debut in the Premier League on the 16th of January, 2016 against Tottenham at White Hart Line. This came only seven days after his full competitive debut for Sunderland in the F.A Cup against Arsenal and after fluctuating in and out of the starting line up, he cemented the number one jersey last season during David Moyes’ tenure in charge of the Black Cats.

Pickford himself is hailed for his kicking ability, his shot-stopping and his maturity in goal for a keeper who is only 23 years old. The fee of £30 million that Everton are willing to pay will be a record for an English goalkeeper and this will place pressure upon the youngster to perform on a regular basis for a top seven Premier League side and to eventually break into the senior national team
