Rotherham United prepared to make approach for Sheffield United forward

Rotherham United coach Matt Hamshaw has told the Sheffield Star that they are ready to make an approach to sign Sheffield United’s Matt Done.

The Millers are looking to strengthen their squad following their relegation to Sky Bet League One and their latest target is Done. The 28-year-old forward did play his part as the Blades became the champions of League One and sealed their return to the Sky Bet Championship, getting enough appearances to activate a one year extension clause in his contract, but this report suggests that he has been transfer listed.

There has been contact between Rotherham and Sheffield United over a potential move but right now it is all on ice because the Millers are having to wait on what sort of deal United would want for Done. So while Rotherham would love him to become a regular presence at the New York Stadium next season, they are being forced to play the waiting game until United decide on their plans for next season.

On this deal, Hamshaw said: “That will probably be one that bubbles away until Sheffield United know what they want to do,”

“We know where we are with it. At this moment in time, he’s a Sheffield United player. They need to see what they want to do with him. We do like the player.”

“It’s one where the plates are still spinning. It’s not crashed on the floor yet. I think that will be one, probably, where it will be later on in pre-season when we get to know just how it turns out.”
