Turkish giants Trabzonspor are reportedly eyeing a bid to bring in former Arsenal midfielder Seb Larsson from Championship side Sunderland, according to Turkish news outlet Aftenbladet.
It’s understood that the Turkish side are looking to bring Larsson in alongside Manchester United’s controversial midfielder Marouane Fellaini, who failed to ever really kickstart his United career after arriving from Everton following David Moyes’ big move.
The Swedish midfielder has been a consistent performer during his 6-year stint at Sunderland, having made 176 appearances for the Black Cats, scoring 12 goals in the process. Since arriving from Birmingham in 2011, Larsson has become a fan favourite at the club, with the set piece specialist offering a creative spark in the Sunderland midfield.

However it appears his spell at the club could well be over, with Sunderland owner Ellis Short looking to take the club in a direction, and at 32 years of age, it’s hard to see the Swede featuring as a major part of the new manager’s long-term plans, whoever it may be.
Larsson’s agent, Per Jonsson, said: “I can confirm that there is interest from Turkey and several other leagues for Sebastian Larsson. Sebastian and I will sit down after the international matches and discuss the different options.”
With his future undecided, it could well be time to move on, but with 89 international caps to his name as well as over 350 career league appearances to his name, Sunderland will find his experience hard to replace.
