Leeds United are reportedly in the running to sign Manchester United’s Belgian winger Adnan Januzaj, as reported by The Express.
Betting site BetVictor have Leeds priced at 10/1 to sign the Belgian, who turned 22 in February. Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stated that he has already made a decision as to the future of the youngster, but is keeping tight-lipped about his decision.
Januzaj, who spent last season out on loan at Sunderland, has made 50 appearances for Premier League giants Manchester United since 2013, and was once tipped as the hottest prospect in the league following his breakout season.
However, things haven’t quite gone as planned for the Belgian winger, who has slipped behind the likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the pecking order. A loan spell at Borussia Dortmund in the 2015/16 season brought just 6 starts and stunted the development of the former Anderlecht youth academy product.
Last season, Januzaj went out on loan to Sunderland, where he started 26 games but failed to score a single goal as the Black Cats were relegated down to the Championship in 20th position.
Former Sunderland boss David Moyes said: “He’s the best technical player. He’ll have a big future. Some of his performances at times have been very good.”
It’s clear that there is Januzaj has the potential, and at 22 years of age there is still time to resurrect his career, but this needs to be done away from Manchester United.
However, Leeds will have to battle the likes of Scottish champions Celtic, Premier League Leicester City and divisional rivals Aston Villa for his signature.
