Sheffield Wednesday and Middlebrough want £10m West Ham winger despite him not wanting to drop down to Championship

Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough want to sign West Ham United’s Robert Snodgrass but face an obstacle in that he doesn’t want to drop to the Sky Bet Championship according to a report from The Mirror.

Snodgrass was signed by West Ham back in the January transfer window but it has turned out to be an utter flop of a transfer as he struggled to break into the first team. But instead of dwelling on this, West Ham and Snodgrass are happy to separate just a few months after he first came to London Stadium and he is set to leave the club in what is believed to be a £10m deal.

This has interested the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough. Both teams want to get promoted to the Premier League next season, with the latter hoping to get back to the top tier after being relegated last season, and believe that Snodgrass would be a fantastic signing to help them in their aims. Considering that the Scottish international has been able to lead teams to promotion before, most recently when he was part of the Hull City team which won the play-off final back in 2016.

However while these clubs want to sign Snodgrass, he might not want to sign for them. The winger does not want to drop back down to the Championship and instead wants to stay with the Premier League. That means a move to Brighton and Hove Albion is more likely though his high wages may become an issue there.
