Huddersfield Town were consistent when it mattered last season in the Sky Bet Championship, stringing the consistent results together that saw Premier League ascension through the lottery that is the play-offs.
Now media giants Bild are saying that the Terriers are eyeing up FC Nuremberg frontman Stefan Kutschke to add to their German contingent as head coach David Wagner aims to sustain what has been termed the ‘Wagner Revolution’.
Bild say that Huddersfield are in competition with German side Ingolstadt, with the German side relegated from the Bundesliga last season. Kutchske is under contract at Nuremberg until 2018, with Bild saying that the club who successfully gain his signature will pay “about [a] 1.5 million euro transfer fee.”
Kutchske played 32 times in last season’s 2.Bundesliga competition last season, ending as the league’s third-highest scorer with 16 goals, adding four assists to that total. The 6ft 4in frontman, with his 16 goals and four assists, was involved in a goal per 117 minutes.
Across his career in Germany for such sides as Dynamo Dresden, Wolfsburg, SC Paderborn and Red Bull Leipzig (when they were in Regionalliga Nord and on their promotion drive up the leagues) the 28-year-old Kutchske has made 262 appearances, scoring 61 times and providing 34 assists – the goals coming at the rate of a goal every 191 minutes.
This strike rate of a goal every 191 minutes would indicate that the German is bracketed in the 18 goal area across a full 38 game Premier League season. Obviously it would be a huge step up in class for Kutchske as he swaps the second tier of German football for the cream of the Premier League where almost every game would see him mixing it with stars of world football.

In a tweeted reply to a Town fan, Walsh says whilst he isn’t sure that Kutchske could hold his own in the Premier League that he is physical “but he isn’t quick. He can finish, though.”
