Young Man United forward linked with permanent Championship move

Manchester United youngster Josh Harrop is being linked with a permanent move to Championship outfit Preston North End, according to the Daily Mail.

Harrop has enjoyed an excellent season at youth level for Manchester United, but threw himself into the spotlight with a well-taken debut goal on the final day of the Premier League season against Crystal Palace in a youth-inspired United side.

Many have hoped Harrop will push on and make steps into the first team at Manchester United, but with Jose Mourinho’s poor record for developing young players, it looks unlikely he has a future at the Manchester club.

The talented midfielder is out of contract this summer, but it’s understood that the 21-year-old has been offered a new deal by the club.

Whilst he’s still in the very early days of his playing career, at 21 Harrop ideally needs to be playing regular first team football, and Preston are reportedly willing to give him a chance to kick on his career.

There is no obligation to sign the contract on offer from United, however Preston will have to pay a compensation fee in the region of £600,000 as there is a contract on the table from United.

Harrop could be the perfect signing to push this Preston side onto the next level and put them in with a shot of a Play-Off push.

Tom Barkhuizen and Jordan Hugill have been revelations this season, but a creative spark needs to be brought in to replace Aiden McGeady’s goals should Preston wish to better this season’s 11th placed finish.
