Chesterfield attacker turns down Sheffield United in favour of Bury move

Chesterfield’s Jay O’Shea has turned down a contract offer from Sheffield United and is set to join Bury instead according to a report from HITC Sport.

While Chesterfield were relegated from Sky Bet League One this season, O’Shea was not involved and in fact had the complete opposite emotions of his parent club. He was on loan with Sheffield United as they won the League One title and would reach the mythical 100 points, coincidentally doing that against the Spireites on the final day of the season.

And after O’Shea scored three goals in ten appearances while at Bramall Lane, United wanted him back so he can help them on their return of the Sky Bet Championship. However while he was a free agent after being released by Chesterfield this summer, he declined the chance to jump up a division and decided that his future would not be with the Blades.

And instead O’Shea will be staying in League One and signing a deal with Bury if recent reports are to be believed. The Shakers are currently a very ambitious side and are looking to get promoted from the division this season so head coach lee Clark is looking to add as many quality players as possible to help in that aim. With O’Shea coming off the back a promotion winning season, they believe he could bring that winning mentality to Gigg Lane. It would also be a great coup for Bury to beat Sheffield United to a signing considering the two club’s relative sizes.
