Andre Villas-Boas has been backed in the next Leeds United manager betting with Sky Bet. After previously being a larger price, he is now available at 18/1, meaning he is now one of the favourites for the vacancy.
The former Porto boss is currently managing in the Chinese Super League at Shanghai SIPG, where he manages the likes of Brazilian duo Oscar and Hulk. They are currently mid-way through their season in Asia, so it perhaps seems unlikely at this stage that he is set to return to English football with Leeds.
Villas-Boas of course is no stranger to English football. An impressive spell at Porto, where he won the treble in his first season, led to Chelsea calling. This made him one of the youngest Premier League managers in history, however he failed to see out the full season with the club. The following season saw Tottenham Hotspur give him a chance and he lasted just over a season in that instance. He would depart to Russia and linked up with Zenit Saint Petersburg, where he won the league title in 2015. Since November 2016, he has been managing in the megabucks Chinese Super League.
Of course from a financial perspective, Leeds would be unable to offer anything like what Villas-Boas is receiving with his current club. Nor would the Championship club be able to necessarily attract players in the calibre of Oscar or Hulk. However he clearly has a point to prove in this country and he’ll want to return some day. Leeds probably isn’t the club, unless something dramatic does happen based on this betting support, but he does have unfinished business in English football.
