Portuguese club seek permanent deal for forgotten Nottingham Forest winger

The Nottingham Post understands that Portuguese side Estoril have approached Nottingham Forest over the possible permanent signing of Lica. The forgotten winger has been on loan with the Primeira Liga club since January and now hope to keep him full time.

Despite contact being made, it is believed that any permanent transfer is a long way off, especially as there are certain complications. It is believed that Lica earns £18,000 a week at the City Ground, which is considerably more than what Estoril would be able to offer the 28-year-old.

The player still has a year remaining on his Forest contract, and Estoril are hoping that the Sky Bet Championship club would be prepared to release him from this deal a year earlier. That would make it much easier to complete a deal, plus Lica is practically frozen out of the first-team picture anyway. The last time he appeared for the club was back in January during a 0-0 draw away to Birmingham City. This was Philippe Montanier’s last game as manager, who signed Lica in the first place.

He has just seven appearances for Nottingham Forest under his belt. Since joining Estoril in late January, Lica has played 13 times, scoring once. That goal came in just his second game for the club, a 2-1 home victory over Pacos Ferreira. Lica previously played for Estoril back in 2013, before a series of loan moves away to Porto, Rayo Vallecano and Vitoria de Guimaraes followed. He joined Forest early last season, failing to make an impression.
