Marco Silvestri, Leeds United goalkeeper could be on his way out

Leeds United goalkeeper could be on his way out

Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri could leave the club this summer, amid reports that Italian side Bologna are interested in the shot stopper.

Silvestri’s first team action was severely limited this season, following the Whites’ signing of Rob Green last summer.

In fact, Silvestri only featured six times for Leeds United this season.

The Italian goalkeeper did not play in the Sky Bet Championship. Four of her appearances came in the EFL Cup, with the other two coming in the FA Cup.

And according to Italian media outlet il Resto del Carlino, Silvestri could be offered a way out of Leeds United.

They report that Serie A side Bologna have been in contact with Leeds over a possible transfer for the goalkeeper.

Bologna are expected to lose their current first choice goalkeeper Antonio Mirante this summer, with Italian giants AS Roma and Juventus both chasing him.

And it seems that they have targeted Silvestri as their replacement.

Of course, Marco Silvestri is well known in Italy, and has played at the highest level in the country before.

He originally joined Leeds United from Italian side Chievo for a fee believed to be in the region of £400,000.

Silvestri struggled to make a real impression at Chievo and failed to make an appearance. Instead, he was loaned at to Reggiani, Paldova and Cagliari.

Silvestri impressed during his loan spells, and earned his move to Leeds United in 2014.

He has so far made 88 appearances for the Whites.
