Former Wolves boss an outsider for Borussia Dortmund job

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert has been listed as the joint fourth favourite for the managerial vacancy at German club Borussia Dortmund according to English Football League sponsors Sky Bet.

The 47-year-old former Scotland international midfielder came to an agreement to leave Molineux last week after just six months in charge.

Lambert recorded a respectable 42.4% win rate as Wolves boss however a review of the club’s footballing structure by owners Fosun International resulted in the two parties mutually agreeing to end their partnership.

With Lambert out of work, English Football League sponsors Sky Bet have made the former UEFA Champions League winner a 20/1 outsider for the managerial vacancy at former club Borussia Dortmund. Lambert made 64 appearances for the German club as a player, scoring two goals and was a member of the side which defeated Juventus is the UEFA Champions League Final in 1996/1997.

With the likes of Ajax coach Peter Bosz, Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Swiss coach Lucien Favre all ahead of Lambert in the betting market, the former Blackburn Rovers and Aston Villa boss is highly unlikely to land the position. Lambert’s managerial record is a positive one though with the former Celtic favourite winning more than 40% of matches in four of his last six jobs while he has two promotions and two Manager of the Year awards on his CV.
