You may have seen that over the last week, Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a move for Graham Dorrans, rivaling Rangers for his signature.
It would actually be a solid move for the Owls. He’d be relatively cheap after being released by Norwich City and has been instrumental in promotion attempts in the past. But because he’s been stuck in a mediocre Norwich team over the last year, he isn’t exactly the sort of guy to re-energise a fanbase that’s a bit miserable after their penalty shoot-out loss to Huddersfield Town in the play-offs.
So here are five other central midfielders Sheffield Wednesday could sign if they want to improve that area. Some of these will be very ambitious but hey, so are the club.
Joe Ledley (Crystal Palace)
You might as well go big if you can. Ledley is a player who can be a regular in the Premier League, heck he’s shown that over the last few years for Crystal Palace. And right now, that’s what Wednesday want, players who will be able move with them to the Premier League should they achieve their aim of promotion. That’s why it would be wise for Wednesday to go for Ledley. he is out of contract this summer and having not played for the Eagles since March, he may be willing to drop down to the Sky Bet Championship. And then Wednesday could get a top quality battler in central midfield.
